Product Test Engineer

 

Allen Vanguard Wireless (AVW),  a wholly owned subsidiary of Allen Vanguard leverages state-of-the-art radio frequency technologies developed over 20+ years in the military market and now adapted for commercial use. AVW provides mobile and broadband wireless solutions for the emerging small cell market. Over the past year, the company has launched commercial LTE solutions including instantly deployable network units for first responders, security markets, and private cellular networks markets. Our patent pending high-power modular RF front ends allow for increased performance, lower power consumption in addition to significant weight reduction in equipment used to provide cellular services.

We’re seeking the brightest and most enthusiastic minds for a variety of jobs across the company.  Currently, AVW is seeking a Full-Time Product Test Engineer to join our Ottawa office.

 

Summary:   

As a member of a focused team of engineers, the Product Test Engineer will be responsible for creating test automation software framework and ensuring that characterization of newly designed RF products can be completed in a timely manner.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new product characterization plans (including functional, temperature and environmental tests)
  • Develop automated test software framework that can be easily adapted for various RF frontend products
  • Continuously improve user interface, test time and test coverage
  • Automate data analysis and data presentation process
  • Assist in the continued development/expansion of lab test infrastructure
  • Work with manufacturing partners to introduce designs into production and establish manufacturing test flow
  • Actively involved in the hardware development process
  • Work closely with teams on systems integration and validation
  • Assist in system level application testing

 

Requirements:

  • A degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Good programming skills in Python, VBA or other commonly used test automation languages
  • Experience with test automation frameworks,  tools development and scripting
  • Deep knowledge of common RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzer, signal generator, network analyzer, etc.) is required
  • Knowledge of LTE Protocol Layers, LTE small cell and microwave backhaul is desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment
  • Willingness to take ownership of new tasks
