Provides assistance in processing, reconciling, and maintaining various employee benefits. Reports to the Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Customer Services.
High school graduate and two years of accounting experience.
Must have proficient spreadsheet, typing, and calculator skills. Subject to frequent interruptions. Must always demonstrate a helpful and friendly attitude while dealing with others.
Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization.
Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience.
Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards.
Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information.
Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.
Accurately enters benefit changes and payroll benefit deductions as necessary for critical illness, whole life, short term disability, MPACT/MACS, basic and voluntary life, long term disability, dental, vision, long term care, cafeteria plan TPA, burial, and 403b / 457 plans; sets up all health premiums for new hires; assures all pertinent records are properly maintained; enrolls employees; and administers changes in programs and systems as required.Maintains precise records to prepare accurate monthly billings of insurance premiums and other payroll deductions; communicates with third party vendors as necessary to assure accuracy; prepares payroll deductions to collect employee benefit premiums.Coordinates health and workers' compensation changes.Coordinates waiver of premium, and claims and cancellations for long term disability, basic and voluntary life, critical illness, whole life, short term disability, cancer, burial, flex plans and accident.Verify new employee information, changes, and terminations in system each pay period from status changes and communication from payroll, and distributes information reports.Compiles data for annual benefits enrollment, benefit renewals, benefit statements and cafeteria plan testing.Interacts with Information Technology staff to develop query data needed to administer employee benefit plans.Conducts back up orientation for all new hires.Assists the Employee Benefits Manager in reviewing requests for health benefits exceptions.Maintains benefits/retirement information on the internal and external web site.Responsible for COBRA administrationCreates monthly report that audits health, dental and vision plans. Assists Employee Benefits Manager with pre-retirement counseling.Coordinate data transfer and communications to third party benefit representatives for one-on-one enrollment process for all benefits.Lead for all Lawson updates/upgradesProvide data for discrimination testing of medical flex plan, 403B and 457B.Maintain payroll function and daily administration of 403B match voluntary and 457B plan. Balance employee and employer amounts each pay period and upload eligibility and payroll file every two weeks.Receive weekly file of changes for 403B match, 403B voluntary, and receive monthly file of changes for 457B. Responsible for entering these changes into Lawson.Assist Benefits Manager with signing up individuals for the defined benefit and also assists with lump sum application.Assist Benefits Manager with pre-retirement counseling.Prepare quarterly bill for employer assistance program.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty.Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 10-15 pounds with or without assistance.Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required.Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced environment.Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. Maybe subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control an ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances.Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
