Job Description: 
The Front End Web Developer is an integral part of the digital production team, responsible for building and delivering web, mobile and social platform solutions for Grey’s current and growing digital client roster. The right candidate will possess a broad skillset, be willing to investigate new technologies and platforms, and be up to date on standards and best practices for coding, delivery and optimization.
The Front End Web Developer utilizes a strong command of standards-based languages to interpret designs and user experience documents to build rich web and mobile experiences.
The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of common CMS systems and server platforms (PHP, ASP.NET), and has the ability to work equally well with creative, UX and back-end developers.
  • Code templates, pages and full web and mobile web applications using standards based languages (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
  • Experience with jQuery/jQuery AJAX and at least one front end framework (Ember, Angular, Backbone)
  • Decipher designs, wireframes and documentation to build layouts, content and create interactive behavior
  • Work closely with backend developers to integrate 3rd party APIs (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Maps, etc)
  • Work and collaborate closely with creative directors, digital designers, UX/IA and client-facing teams
  • Provide technical guidance and estimates around proposed projects and tasks, including possible approaches, risks and benefits
  • Work with outside vendors and partner agencies to guide development and provide deliverables
  • Troubleshoot and test applications and pages across browsers and platforms to insure maximum coverage and consistency
  • Ability to patiently and articulately communicate technical concepts and ideas to colleagues with varying degrees of technical or digital knowledge
Required skills, experience and qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate should have 4+ years experience in web design and development (with portfolio and code samples/repos)
  • Computer Science, Communications or Design degrees welcome
  • Work within an agency, or similar production-driven environment
  • Excellent time-management and task/effort estimation skills
  • Strong command of standards based languages (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) and knowledge of proper semantic coding practices
  • A strong grasp on emerging standards and frameworks
  • Experience with development and optimization for mobile web, including Responsive Web Design and fluid layouts
  • Experience with jQuery, jQuery UI and other JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience working with dynamic web applications and CMS systems within at least one development stack (.NET, LAMP)
  • Understanding of Client-Server architecture, and typical layers within web applications
  • Experience with and understanding of social media APIs, widgets and integration
  • Work with 3rd party APIs and JSON-formatted data
  • Work with version-control systems such as Git/GitHub or SVN
Desired but not required:
  • Experience with highly regulated industries or projects, such as pharma and healthcare
  • Experience with compiled CSS (SASS/Compass)
  • Experience with mobile web frameworks such as jQuery Mobile, Sencha or PhoneGap
  • Work with native mobile development (iOS, Android)
  • Experience developing or working with custom social media application
