Reporting to:          Area Superintendent




Reporting to the Area superintendent and if applicable the Complex Manager, the General Foreman plays a critical role in the production needs of JBS Food Canada Inc.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Statistical reporting and training database management:

  • Prepare weekly and quarterly statistical reports and analyses for management/Superintendents
  • Provide assistance to all production staff
  • Conduct periodic reviews of team members to ensure compliance to company protocols and designs
  • Ensure non-conformances or deficiencies with team members or practices are reviewed and appropriate corrective actions taken to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure that all production performance in specific area is performed in accordance with environmental, health and safety guidelines and legislated requirements
  • Ensure that own actions and those of the work team ensure compliance with JBS Food Canada Inc. and contract specific quality assurance and safety programs at the same time promoting a healthy team member environment
  • Recommend new solutions or concepts to all parts of the business to promote productivity
  • Assist new employees
  • Act as the liaison between team members, Superintendents and any other applicable department (i.e. training department and our training program provider)
  • Project plan and business requirements analysis for updates or changes



  • Research on issues of relevance to training in Meat Industry;
  • Develop and maintain information resources for production staff;


Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Contributes to the on-going development of JBS Food Canada Inc. policies and procedures;


Key Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills


  • Well versed in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, is required;
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with team members and management in a clear, concise, complete, and logical manner on sometimes complex matters;
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to identify tasks and resources required to complete tasks, and the ability to complete tasks within pre-determined timelines;
  • Teamwork – ability to work effectively with colleagues and management;
  • Strong supervisory or Management skills in dealing with a wide spectrum of individuals, from production through management, efficiently and effectively
  • Fluency in English
  • Post secondary education would be considered an asset but is not essential
