HEALTH CAREER CONNECTION INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
The Application for the Summer 2015 Internship Program is now CLOSED!
Any submissions submitted after Feb 9, 2015 at 11:59pm will NOT be considered.
Health Career Connection (HCC) provides a summer internship to undergraduate students interested in careers in public health and healthcare.
Health Career Connection serves to increase the diversity of the health care workforce; to develop the next generation of health care and public health leaders; and to increase opportunities for people who are from, or want to serve, underserved communities.
HCC does not offer clinical or research related internships.
Internships are full-time (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week) educational opportunities that last 10 continuous weeks, from June through August. Candidates must be able to commit to this time frame. Health Career Connection will not accommodate summer school, vacationing, or studying for any standardized test for graduate or professional school during the internship.
Internships take place at prominent healthcare/public health organizations such as hospitals, academic medical centers, community clinics, medical groups, health plans, health departments, & advocacy groups. Each year, these placement sites may change.
During the course of the internship, students will work on meaningful projects and develop professional skills that will strengthen their preparation and qualifications for health careers that are aligned with their interests.
Through an apprenticeship model, each student is paired with a preceptor at the placement site who will serve as a mentor and guide, sharing his/her experience and wisdom.
Interns will also have the invaluable opportunity to participate in Health Career Connection seminars and workshops, which are incorporated into the summer schedule.
Internships are located in:
· New York/New Jersey (mainly in New York City)
· Boston and nearby cities
· Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area from Salinas to Sacramento)
· Southern California (Greater Los Angeles, Inland Empire, Orange County and San Diego)
· Central California Valley (Fresno, Modesto, Visalia, Bakersfield)
· Coachella Valley (Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Coachella, Cathedral City)
· North Carolina (Roberson County, Scotland County, Hoke County, Moore County, Forsythe County, Triangle Region, and Triad Region)
Please pay specific attention to the application instructions when choosing a region.
Health Career Connection does not cover relocation costs, housing, or transportation.
