Intern II - AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety

AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety Intern II  (2 positions)



Under the direction of managers and senior-level technical associates at the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, the student interns will assist to carry out traffic safety research in areas related to emerging transportation technologies, vulnerable road users, and driver behavior and performance.  The student interns will be directly involved with on-going AAA Foundation research projects as well as performing analytical tasks on specific traffic safety issues and document findings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical assistance on current research studies at the AAA Foundation and carry out tasks such as reviewing literatures and other documents, designing experiment, analyzing data, and documenting findings.  (50%)
  2. Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses on specific traffic safety topics as assigned.  (30%) 
  3. Prepare technical write-ups and other electronic documents.  (10%) 
  4. Participate in meetings and project team activities as necessary.  (10%)


  • Working towards a Master’s or Doctoral degree in the fields of Engineering, Experimental Psychology, or Statistics
  • Knowledge and background on one or more traffic safety issues
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data analysis and/or computer simulation tools
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and adaptable to a variety of assignments
  • Effective interpersonal skills
