Description

The Network and Systems Engineer will join Bracebridge’s information technology group to help implement, support and manage the firm’s new and evolving network and system infrastructure.  The infrastructure consists of two datacenters and an office location that provide fault tolerance and resiliency for the critical operations of the firm. Bracebridge’s production environment consists of user systems, servers, SAN/NAS infrastructure, and virtualization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with other team members to design and deploy new network capabilities, improve performance, fault tolerance, security and efficiency
  2. Evolve and advance operations around the network including configuration and network management, monitoring and alerting
  3. Provide daily support of production environment
  4. Management and operation of core infrastructure components
  5. Document and diagram network and system designs
  6. Occasional night or weekend work for items that must occur outside of production hours
  7. Creative thought and design of new infrastructure services that improve users’ experience, operational efficiency and security
  8. Manage Windows and Linux servers, network appliances
  9. Manage and configure Cisco network devices including virtualization, firewalls, switches and wireless devices
  10. Troubleshoot and resolve system and network-related issues
  11. Implement industry-standard best practices around change management, configuration management and system operation

Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Cisco operating environments (IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS, ASA firewalls and wireless access), including configuration, firmware and operation
  2. Experience with Layer 2 configuration (Ethernet, Spanning Tree)
  3. Experience with Layer 3 configuration and dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
  4. Experience with fiber, copper, SFP/SFP+ physical interfaces
  5. Experience with Windows (servers/desktops) and Linux environments
  6. Experience with packet capture/sniffers, protocol analysis
  7. Knowledge of IP addressing, VLSM, subnet calculation
  8. Knowledge of network security, access control lists/filters and related tools
  9. Knowledge of configuration and change management processes
  10. Knowledge of standard security protocols and encryption over networks including TLS and VPN
  11. Exposure to network monitoring tools, packet sniffers and logging tools
  12. Understanding of security mechanisms including firewalls/filtering, VPNs and network protections
  13. Exposure to Cisco UCS infrastructure
  14. Exposure to Cisco SAN infrastructure
  15. Ability to travel (by car) to datacenters in Boston, MA and Marlborough, MA
  16. Ability to lift and install into racks various network devices and servers
