Position Summary:

The ARD Technician is responsible for cleaning laboratory glassware and operating glassware washing machine, disposal of organic waste, calibrating balances on the day of use, pH meters and Karl Fischer water analyzer, if necessary.  These duties must be performed following cGMP’s/GLP’s and OSHA standards. Perform other duties as assigned.  Detailed description is below.



ARD Management


Essential Duties & Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                  



Must possesses a fundamental understanding of cGMP


Dispose organic waste from HPLC/UPLC systems


Calibration of balances, pH meters (using pH1, pH3, pH4, pH7, and pH10 buffers), Karl Fischer water analyzer


Collects laboratory glassware from designated areas within Analytical R&D laboratory and manually transports the glassware in bins to ARD glassware room for washing


Clean glassware by hand (pipettes, 2L and 4L glass volumetric flasks, 2L glass beakers, 2L and 4L glass bottles, and 6L glass mobile phase containers) in accordance with applicable standards


Operate laboratory glassware washing machine, which involves loading and unloading laboratory volumetric glassware


Transfer above described volumetric glassware from glassware washing machine into different storage and glass storage cabinets


Wash laboratory glass pipettes using special washing containers and transfers clean pipettes into storage drawers.


Dispose broken glass disposal and powder waste fiber drums from both the lab.


Replaces water in Dissolution baths and Ultrasonic baths


Replaces desiccants material in Desiccators, when necessary


Audits reagents and chemicals for expiration dates, and notifies management team of expired reagents for disposal on a monthly basis.


Vacuums dirt and powder from the balances at least once per week, before calibrating


Ability to work with the Laboratory coordinator – assesses inventory/stock of chemicals, reagents, and lab supplies; requests quotes for items to order; places purchase orders; contacts vendor(s) for order confirmation number, product information, and scheduled delivery date; receiving ordered items, and then storing them in the proper locations for use by laboratory personnel.


Discard syringes, filters, plastic transfer pipets, and plastic centrifuge tubes into appropriately labeled locations/drawers


Transfers 4-liter and 1-liter glass containers of reagents and chemicals into cabinets for storage and for use by lab personnel


Perform all job responsibilities in a safe, efficient manner


Other projects and duties as required or assigned.


Position Requirements


  • High School graduate with course in related science
  • Associate’s degree in chemistry or related science
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or other sciences

Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with High Scholl Diploma
  • 2-4 years with Associate Degree
  • 0-2 years with BS
