DAS and Small Cell Summary

Crown Castle designs, develops and operates cost-effective fiber DAS and small cell networks to improve signal strength and network capacity and coverage. Crown Castle specializes in indoor and outdoor small cell solutions for major wireless carriers like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile as well as the public sector and has industry leading expertise across a variety of markets.  Crown Castle currently has over 14,000 indoor and outdoor small cell nodes in operation and 3,500 under construction at venues, universities, residential developments, municipalities and other locations.

 

Position Summary

Opportunity for **current undergraduate engineering students** to assist RF engineers with design, project implementation, the ongoing maintenance and modification of small cell systems, and the development of standards or software tools to improve cycle time. 

 

Co-op Opportunities

*Queens, NY – Opportunity to assist with design and deployment of complex wireless systems (LTE, UMTS, & CDMA) around Wall Street, Central Park, other areas of Manhattan and the New York City metro region for major wireless carriers.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Interface with Customer and cultivate relationship with their engineering teams.

  • Assist in creating small cell network designs and proposals.

  • Utilize sales process workflow systems.

  • Assist in designing systems by selecting sites, conducting CW tests, analyzing data, and prepare customer documentation.

  • Configure, test, and commission small cell networks.

  • Optimize small cell networks.

  • Support NOCC and troubleshoot performance issues.

  • Leverage empirical and predictive design tools.

  • Facilitate implementation of solutions and trials.

  • Conduct field work and measurements.

  • Operate test equipment and run post processing software.

  • Provide planning, coordination as well as drive testing including CW, benchmark, and optimization.

  • Coordinate, oversee or perform system optimization of multi-node outdoor SCN systems.

  • Work closely with customer personnel regarding system design, performance and optimization, recommend configuration changes.

  • Use a variety of measures to confirm system designs including test equipment, power density and power meter, spectrum analyzer, and pilot scanner.

  • RF and fiber testing, reporting, and troubleshooting.

  • Perform ongoing system testing, test analysis, troubleshooting, test reports and recommendation for changes and upgrades.

     

Education and Experience

Completion of second year of study in a certified BSEE program

 

Other Skills/Abilities

Ability to use MS Office products (Excel required)

Capable of listening carefully and following directions
