Survey Technician

DEA’s is looking to hire a temporary Survey Technician to be based in Boise, ID office.  The Survey Technician will perform data processing and analysis, and prepare plats and maps under supervision of a Survey Project Manager or Survey Task Lead.  The projects will be general civil engineering with an emphasis on land development and transportation projects.  The selected individual will be a good communicator and be able to complete work on schedule and within budget.   This position might also spend time in the field.


Position Duties:


  • Provide office survey support to the field crews.
  • Responsible for record mapping, ALTA maps, parcel maps, and topographic surveys.
  • Prepare maps, record research, and field crew prep.
  • Work closely with Survey Manager and Project Surveyor.
  • Perform research, design and calculations for survey and mapping projects using AutoCAD.
  • Operate standard survey equipment in the field such as Total Stations, GPS, levels, etc.
  • Operate electronic data collectors.
  • Assist with boundary determinations and procedure analysis.
  • Prepare exhibits and assist with descriptions and lot line adjustments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Associate degree in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering or high school diploma and equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience and general engineering plan reading skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Land Development Desktop, Civil 3D (2012), Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with GPS processing, TDS, and automated linework a plus
