Senior Water Resources Engineer

DEA’s Bellevue, WA office is hiring a Senior Water Resources Engineer whose primary focus will be managing Water and Environment projects while developing business relationships, sales and project delivery for existing and new clients in the Puget Sound Region (PSR). The ideal candidate is an experienced Water Resources Engineer and Client/Project Manager, a practice builder and leader with expertise in organizing and leading teams, producing quality documents and effective communications.  The selected candidate will have a proven record of developing client relationships, proposing on and winning competitive solicitations and building and maintaining a Water Resources and Environment practice.


This position will require the candidate to utilize their expertise in Water Resources engineering related projects, including, but not limited to stormwater conveyance design (gravity and pumped systems); stormwater facility and treatment design; surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design; floodplain management; culvert and bridge hydraulics and fish passage design; stream, wetland and habitat restoration analysis and design; preparation of infrastructure feasibility studies and master plans; preparation of engineering and construction plans, specifications and estimates; coordination with regulatory agencies and assistance in developing effective project permitting strategies.   




  • Serve as a Senior Manager and grow the PSR Water Resources group and practice while managing, coaching and mentoring staff in professional, technical, and business development efforts
  • Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment with individual and group responsibilities for business development, sales, financial performance and internal and external client deliverables and schedules
  • Directly manage projects and support staff in project development and delivery, including scoping, budgeting, contract negotiations and project execution
  • Work with the Water and Environment Business Unit (WEBU)  Marketing and Business Development Leaders to initiate, identify and support project pursuits and assist in project execution
  • Serve as a project pursuit champion, when applicable
  • Assist in preparing proposals and participating in interviews
  • Work with the WEBU leadership in strategic planning activities
  • Work with the WEBU leadership to identify capital investments, strategic alliances, key hires, acquisitions and growth opportunities


Basic Qualifications:


  • Registered Professional Engineer in Washington (Oregon and or California a plus)
  • Minimum 10 years of professional public or consulting experience managing Water Resources business development efforts, projects and staff
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related field
  • Track record of winning and executing Water Resources projects for public and private infrastructure clients
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
