Senior Hydrographic Data Analyst

DEA is currently looking for a Senior Hydrographic Data Analyst to be based in our Vancouver, WA office and have the ability to go off shore and travel on 20 day rotations. Our Senior Hydrographic Data Analyst will provide data processing and analysis, and production of deliverables to NOAA Office of Coast Survey and USACE specifications using Caris HIPS and other processing software. Duties would include: data management; estimate projects; coordinate, manage, and perform data processing efforts; QA/QC of data by validating field checks, comparing to prior surveys, cross line analysis, and other methods to verify data accuracy; assist with field operations; maintain good relations with clients and staff. The scope would cover a wide range of processing and analysis of hydrographic and marine geophysical data. Additional duties may include guidance, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Familiar with the use of some or all of the following: Reson multibeam systems, POS/MV positioning and motion reference system, EdgeTech side scan sonars and similar sonar instrumentation
  • Bachelors Degree in Geomatics, Geography, Ocean Engineering, Ocean Mapping, GIS or related science field
  • Strong organizational skills and team player
  • Strong working knowledge with NOAA and USACE specifications for hydrographic surveys
  • Minimum of 7 years conducting and processing hydrographic surveys
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and safety conscious
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows-based programs, ESRI ArcGIS, as well as hydrographic data processing software including:  Chesapeake SonarWiz, Caris HIPS/SIPS, and Fledermaus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Geographic Information System Professional a plus
