Software Engineer 3

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland


iNovex engineers offer our customers significant experience providing software engineering support using Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools, Integrated Development Environments (IDE) and developing software with programming languages.


In support of a Prime contract, iNovex will be responsible for providing software maintenance and enhancements to a compliance application in the J2EE environment, following a rapid agile methodology.  The application manages entitlements used for data and system access, utilizing Java, JavaScript, ExtJS, JSON, PostgresSql database and Spring.  The Eclipse IDE and Maven are utilized to build and deploy the software to a JBoss application server.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Analyze requirements, provide schedule estimates for, and design and implement numerous GUIs to meet requirements in EXTJS.

  • Regularly provide feedback on applications and participate in usability meetings with the customer to demonstrate prototypes/new applications, refine functionality and performance, and to recommend alternative solutions to meet requirements.

  • Develop custom GUI components using EXT-JS and standards to promote GUI software development efficiency and productivity.

  • Serve as a mentor for Junior developers


Specific skills desired/required:

  • Desire to do front end (GUI) development. [Required]

  • Experience with JavaScript [Required]

  • Experience with Java JDK 1.7+ [Required]

  • Experience with Maven [Required]

  • Experience with EXT-JS or similar JavaScript frameworks [Required]

  • Experience with Jenkins or similar CI tools [Desired]

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar Database Systems [Desired]

  • Experience with MACHINESHOP, AWS or similar machine platforms [Desired]



The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.


Twenty (20) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
