OVERVIEW

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for providing leadership in the reliability function of the Corner Brook maintenance operations and promoting reliability best practices.  The Reliability Engineer is the Continuous Improvement specialist for his/her area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate and lead in the CBPP Zero Harm Culture; complete safety evaluations (lock-out audits, BBS, Take 5, etc.), and help maintain a safe, positive workplace

  • Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Department.Manage spending, so as to adhere to the approved budgets.

  • Work within an established predictive and preventive maintenance program to provide oversight and direction of various condition monitoring activities, including vibration, oil analysis, thermography, gear inspections, ultrasound and lubrication.

  • Lead and manage Root Cause Failure Analyses process with the purpose to identify and eliminate causes of failures

  • Coordinate efforts of outside contractors to perform routine data collection, inspections as well as specialized tests.

  • Analyze, consolidate, and distribute inspection results and reports as appropriate for use by maintenance personnel and management.

  • Part of the area team of maintenance and operations that diagnoses machine conditions, analyzes failures, and plans appropriate corrective actions. Consult with outside specialists as necessary.

  • Monitor and maintain online vibration monitoring system, including database management, evaluation and adjustment of alarms, repair and replacement of vibration hardware and instrumentation, and administration of updates for software and diagnostic tools.

  • Work with lubrication crew to continually improve lubrication database and lube practices.Act as an advisor in terms of lubrication issues, oil analysis program and liaise with lubricant supplier and operations.

  • Technical resource to area operations and maintenance team regarding parts, maintenance procedures, obsolescence, etc.

  • Optimize existing preventive and predictive maintenance practices and recommend new practices to improve uptime and reduce cost.

  • Lead and participate in various projects as assigned by Reliability Engineering Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, P.Eng is considered an asset, must be willing to obtain P.Eng.

  • 2-5 years experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment; in the Pulp and Paper industry would be an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Good understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance and Root Cause Analysis

Successful candidate will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency or the RCMP before commencing employ
