OVERVIEW

The Mill Shift Supervisor, reporting to the Production Manager, is responsible for the day to day operation of the papermaking activities. Overseeing a crew of 10-14 people daily, the shift supervisor is ultimately responsible for overall safety and operation of the mill during evening and weekend shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and coordinate all shift activities for the paper mill crew

  • Routinely monitor shift performance and progress

  • Troubleshoot any production issues with the crew

  • Support Key Performance Indicators (KPI’S) for the department

  • Coordinate minor maintenance activities with maintenance personnel

  • Know and apply collective agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial production setting, preferably pulp and paper processing

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or process engineering, or a technology diploma in a related area

  • Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and lead a crew.

  • Good demonstration of leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Proficient use of computer programs: Microsoft Office, CMMS

  • The Successful candidate must be able to work 12 hour shifts, including evenings and weekends

Successful candidate will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency or the RCMP before commencing employment.
