The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for all accounting for the entities under his responsibility, including financial reporting, cash management, budgetary process and external audit. The Financial Reporting Accountant ensures that accounting is complete and accurate, and that up-to-date financial data are presented monthly, internally and externally. The Financial Reporting Accountant also ensures that internal and external controls work properly and are tested periodically.




  • General accounting, including the general ledger, journal entries, account analysis, intercompany account balances, fixed assets, month ends, JD Edward systems and the Cognos Controller financial consolidation application.

  • Prepare internal financial statements, and report monthly financial information and observations.

  • Help the Chief Financial Officer prepare external reports (monthly/quarterly, for financial institutions).

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts for the entities under this responsibility.

  • Actively participate in the preparation of the annual external audit.

  • Analyze variances in spending by the Company’s departments and follow up with cost centre managers.

  • Help develop and monitor policies, controls and procedures that are relevant to accounting, budgeting, forecasts and ad hoc reporting.

  • Ensure that management at the sites implements internal controls and appropriate procedures and that it ensures the controls work properly.

  • Help validate internal controls in accordance with NI 52-109.

  • Take part in other projects or mandates for the Finance Department.





  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Commerce, Accounting.

  • At least three (3) years of relevant accounting and business experience, including financial reporting, auditing and taxation. Industry experience is an asset.

  • Professional accounting designation (preferably CPA, CA or CPA Auditor).

  • Very good knowledge of Excel and major financial systems (preferably JD Edwards).

  • Ability to deal with different people at different reporting levels, at the sites and Head Office.

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is essential.

  • Familiarity with IFRS standards.

    All supervisory staff have a duty to identify, monitor and eliminate hazards that pose a danger to employees. Supervisory staff shall take the necessary steps to protect the health, safety and physical integrity of all employees.
