The Department of Pediatrics’ Section of Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, in association with the Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), is seeking pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) physicians in anticipation of opening a new, state-of-the-art pediatric emergency center at one of our community sites in The Woodlands, Texas.
Candidates must be fellowship trained and/or board certified/eligible in pediatric emergency medicine and will enter at the assistant or associate professor level based on experience and qualifications. Salary and benefit packages are very competitive and include incentives for applicants who are willing to focus at one of the community sites.
The Section provides PEM coverage to:
- TCH Medical Center, the largest free-standing pediatric quaternary care hospital in the country with over 75,000 Emergency Center (EC) visits/year (65% are ESI acuity 1-3);
- TCH West Campus, which opened in 2011 as a suburban free- standing pediatric tertiary care hospital with over 40,000 visits/year (45% are ESI acuity 1-3);
- Texas Children’s The Woodlands Hospital is scheduled to open EC patient care services in spring 2017.
Located 35 miles north of the Medical Center Campus, The Woodlands Hospital will have 32 acute care beds, 28 intensive care beds, 25 emergency rooms, 4 operating rooms, and 12 radiology rooms (including 2 MRIs). Continually recognized as one of the nation's premier children's healthcare systems, the Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Emergency Medicine Section services the largest pediatric emergency center is South Central Texas, treating more than 130,000 patients annually. Modern, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, strong nursing and tech support, and a cutting-edge OR system bolsters professional efforts and overall satisfaction. The section has well- established training practices for multiple levels of learners (fellows, residents, medical students, undergraduate students, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants). Many of our faculty have advanced degrees and/or have specialized training in point of care ultrasound, sedation, global health, education, and clinical research.
