This is a great opportunity for a high performing, motivated individual with great people skills to join a fully integrated biotech company with three commercial products and a robust pipeline to bring more drugs to patients with unmet medical needs.  You will be joining a diverse Finance & Accounting team that has a wide range of expertise across multiple financial disciplines.  You will be collaborating closely with colleagues in: Commercial Finance, Business Partnering and Decision Support, Valuations, SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting, SOX, Corporate Tax and more.  You will also interact and form good relationships with colleagues from all other functions: Legal, Talent Team & Culture, IT, R&D, Operations, Sales & Marketing and more.  You will be joining a Company that places high value on career development and offers a wealth of opportunity to grow and accomplish.  You will be expected to lead with excellence, attract and develop talent, and think and act like an owner of the company, which you will be.

 

Position description:

This key finance position will manage a team of talented individuals in the core Accounting function, A/P, Payroll and Equity and will serve as a resource to guide their training and development.  The right candidate will partner with all levels throughout the organization and will interact extensively with outside auditors and advisors.  The proven leader will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Controller.  This position will have oversight of the end-to-end monthly and quarterly financial statements and accounting close cycles.  The seasoned professional will have technical experience in a wide variety of accounting areas and will also have a breadth of business and operational experience. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and coaching to core accounting, A/P, Payroll and Equity teams to ensure success; align individual and group goals to overall corporate objectives
  • Prepare comprehensive analyses and financial presentations for senior management and audit committee
  • Provide overall management of external financial reviews and audits; play an integral role in Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance program and audits
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of a timely and accurate monthly/quarterly financial close; motivate and influence the Finance team to achieve goals and excellence
  • Review financial statements, analyses, footnotes, disclosures and other support
  • Responsible for more involved accounting areas and those which involve significant judgment and technical expertise; assess new and complex business transactions
  • Improve and implement appropriate systems and processes to facilitate timely and accurate closings, reporting and analysis; research and apply industry best practices
  • Manage and forecast operating cash, assist with treasury and investment operations

Basic Requirements:

  • 12+ years of relevant and progressive work experience

  • BA/BS in Accounting or other finance discipline

  • CPA, including Big 4 or large regional firm experience

  • Demonstrated business leadership and management skills

  • Strong technical (US GAAP) accounting background, extensive SOX experience

  • Self-motivated professional with ability to effectively balance multiple priorities, strong attention to detail, utmost integrity

  • Flexible and collaborative work style with ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment

  • Must have very strong written (memos, narratives, processes), verbal and analytical skills.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Commercial biotech or pharma experience strongly preferred

  • SAP ERP experience preferred

  • MBA or Master’s in financial discipline

  • Experience with business combinations and consolidations
