The new Ironwood will focus on accelerating the growth of our marketed product Linzess® (linaclotide) and advancing the development of our innovative pipeline of treatments for GI diseases and abdominal pain. Following completion of the separation, the Payroll / Equity Senior Associate position will be part of the new Ironwood. The role will remain as described here.

Position description:

The Payroll / Equity Senior Associate is responsible for owning several components of Ironwood’s payroll and stock plan administration. This is an excellent opportunity to build the function and continue to raise the bar, in terms of service delivery and customer satisfaction. This position is an integral member of the Finance & Accounting team reporting to the Sr. Payroll Manager, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Equity Administration Manager.

 

As owners of the company, we challenge assumptions and relentlessly look for opportunities to improve on execution.  The Payroll / Equity Senior Associate is responsible for executing Company policy in collaboration with other departments including Legal and HR Talent Team & Culture.  This role will also work with vendors and internal stakeholders to provide and maintain best in class service levels as the company grows.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will interact with several functions and multiple levels of the organization including the senior executive team and must be extremely detail oriented. The role is responsible for implementing and maintaining relevant Company-wide communications as well as day-to-day interactions with the larger employee base.  S/he  must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Ownership of components of stock plan administration including:

    • Processing of new hires, terminations, annual and promotion grants, stock option exercises, vesting events, ESPP purchases, restricted stock unit releases and associated tax withholding activities

    • Reconciliations between stakeholders including HR, Payroll, transfer agent, broker and third-party stock administration software

    • Maintenance of stock plan database (Equity Edge Online) and employee data.

    • Point person for stock participant inquiries and ad-hoc requests from business partners

    • Assist in the preparation of stock related journal entries and key reports distributed to Finance and HR team members

 

  • Own the company-wide payroll function including, but not limited to:

    • Accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll, recording all changes as necessary to maintain up-to-date payroll records. Manage payroll tax activities in a multi-state environment, including compliance with federal, state and local regulations and handle other benefits, including retirement plan activities.

    • Assist in the preparation of payroll related journal entries and key reports distributed to finance and HR team members.

    • Provide customer service support to employees on issues as they relate to payroll or payroll related benefits and work closely with HR on compensation-related issues.   

    • Deliver payroll new hire orientation (monthly).

 

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of payroll and equity functions and work with internal and external auditors to provide sample requests and ensure SOX compliance.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of relevant and progressive work experience (Payroll and Equity)

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining confidential information

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and adjust to changing priorities

  • Exceptional commitment to detail and accuracy in all levels of work

  • Must have very strong analytical, communication, organizational and customer service skill

  • Strong Excel software skills

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Possesses an intermediate level understanding of payroll processing and/or equity administration, with an eagerness to expand knowledge and responsibilities in both areas

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance

  • Proficiency with payroll processing systems; ADP preferred

  • Proficiency with equity administration systems; Equity Edge Online preferred

  • SAP experience, preferred but not required

  • Experience working with an external audit and handling audit support
