Ironwood Pharmaceuticals is offering a great opportunity to be a part of a vibrant communications team that is responsible for internal and external communications, liaising closely with the investor relations team, at a growing commercial biotech company in Cambridge, MA. This is an opportunity to work closely with a small but seasoned team and gain broad exposure across the organization. Our summer internship is approximately 15 weeks in length (June – August 2017). Gain real world experience and valuable insight into corporate communications as part of our fun, fast-paced, results-driven team.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate in meetings with full communications team and assist team in planning for and tracking progress against milestones, press releases, conferences, events and other significant initiatives
  • Participate in meetings with corporate PR team reviewing communications metrics and goals 
  • Develop content for social media channels, monitor channels and trends and assess analytics 
  • Aggregate and summarize media relating to the company, its product and pipeline
  • Manage updates, write, edit and proof articles for posting on company intranet
  • Manage logistics and communications for companywide events
  • Assist with drafting weekly all-company e-newsletter
  • Serve as corporate photographer 
  • Manage archive of company photos 
  • Ad hoc communications projects 

 

Basic qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student working toward a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated success working under deadlines – possess a sense of urgency
  • Use creativity to solve problems – entrepreneurial mindset
  • Available 30-40 hours per week through August 2017
  • Experience with technology and proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Excel, social media and web-based platforms
  • Experience using DSLR camera for photography and video capture a plus 

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
