Position description:

The senior director of corporate IT - ERP is responsible for the management, leadership and delivery of business services, business process methodologies, process improvements (enhancements / projects) and strategic roadmap planning within the Ironwood G&A ERP enterprise. Candidate is responsible for the alignment, assessment, prioritization and intake of G&A demands into Ironwood’s PPMS (Project Portfolio).  A focus on strategic alignment to Corporate & Functional goals while providing portfolio tools and governance to drive outcome value for the enterprise. The position will manage a staff to support our key G&A Business Demands, Business Partner objectives and support executing value added projects that ensure automation, streamlined processes and maximized efficiencies.  This position will interact with functional / cross-functional senior leadership and subject matter experts to best plan IT G&A portfolios that improve process performance, workflow efficiency and resource allocations.  This includes leading an ERP governance and lifecycle model that provides overview of projects from end-to-end including roadmap alignment, requirements gathering, collaborating designing enhancements, communications assistance and training practices. 



The primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides vision and leadership for the development and delivery of Enterprise ERP / G&A Business Systems.

  • Responsible for the digital transformation of business processes which include Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Legal, FICO, Business Planning and all other components of G&A ERP. Interacts directly with the senior business executives in those domains.

  • Exceptional functional expertise, serving as a subject matter expert with a high exposure to fundamental and innovative business processes, Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL skill sets.

  • Passionate about automation, simplification and digitalization, and has a full understanding of industry regulatory requirements including Sox, HIPAA, 21CFR11 and GXP validation.

  • Responsible for the technological direction of the G&A area as well as full budget accountability, contracts, managed services and headcount.

  • Exceptional Program / Project Management. Provide governance, guidelines and frameworks for project plans, status meetings, project reporting, KPI’s and metrics to assist G&A IT staff in successful outcomes and vision into IT portfolio management.

  • Management of portfolio recommendations jointly with the IT staff (BRM’s) and functional senior leadership.

  • Drive continuous improvement to the Enterprise G&A space.

  • Lead strategic and operational planning & execution by the evaluation, deployment, continuous improvement, and management of systems across the organization.

  • Oversee all aspects of ERP Application integration/configuration including functional and technical specifications, design, development and support for applications that are used by the business.

  • Building and driving organizational capabilities through effective organizational structure, high performing teams, portfolio, project, and service management.

  • Oversee all G&A programs to ensure that the quality and success of his projects are consistent, repeatable and within budget.  Manage risks for all programs and services in the portfolio.


Basic qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role within the Life Sciences industry.

  • 15+ years of experience in leadership roles in IT across all disciplines.

  • 20+ years of experience in IT.

  • Sound technical knowledge of IS infrastructure and technology, with a focus on the business use of technology. 

  • Experience across all business systems areas including ERP, CRM, HCM, LM, LIMS, etc.

  • Multiple full lifecycle implementations utilizing SAP.

  • Excellent understanding of business processes and transactions

  • Experience in Manufacturing, Supply chain process digitalization, (e.g. scheduling, planning, product costing, forecasting, etc.)

  • Expertise in cloud based systems automation and integration.

  • Must have a strong management background and understanding of P&Ls, KPIs, and change management.

  • Knowledge of Lean/Six sigma / ITIL

  • Understanding of IT automation and system integration to drive efficiency.

  • The ability to think and plan strategically and to be aware of the latest trends and benchmarks affecting IS in general and the Pharma/Biotech sector in particular.

  • A good understanding of the Pharma/Biotech processes and the opportunities and challenges for the use of technology to improve those processes.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Exceptional knowledge of the cost of services and activities in the area managed.  Exceptional understanding of the business value of the IT solutions being delivered.  Ability to examine multiple scenarios in both IT and customer terms, to ensure return on investment.

Exceptional understanding of the competitive environment relevant to technology decisions.  Good knowledge of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of technology options available.  Ability to frame this analysis in customer terms and influence decisions.

Managing change in the business resulting from IT applications

Excellent understanding of the business changes required resulting from IT applications.  Anticipate these changes and develop plans for change management in the business.

Identify and differentiate customer constituencies and understand how these constituencies work, what enhances them or impedes their success. Influence IT strategy and delivery accordingly.
