Position description:

We are offering an exciting opportunity to support Ironwood’s Corporate Development team with exposure across the organization. The Corporate Development Intern provides analytical and strategic support for Corporate Development as we evaluate new opportunities. The successful candidate will work closely with Corporate Development business deal leads as well as cross-functional business partners, including with members of the R&D, Commercial, and Finance teams to support the evaluation of assets in multiple therapeutic areas. The intern will also be part of broader projects such as therapeutic landscape analyses. The individual in this role must be self-motivated with an interest and enthusiasm for research, analysis, and learning, and able to prioritize and multitask while using considerable judgment and creative problem-solving skills. Key attributes for the ideal candidate include excellent analytical skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, a high degree of organization, and close attention to detail.



  • Assembly of asset opportunity profiles, including basic financial, product, and competitive analyses

  • Secondary research, utilizing Bloomberg as well as other industry databases

  • Cross-functional coordination with R&D, Commercial, Finance, and Legal colleagues as needed to support further opportunity analyses

  • Supporting Corporate Development operations as needed

  • Support for due diligence and integration efforts as needed


Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Demonstrated research, communication, and organization skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a proactive, positive, and constructive manner

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate initiative and independence, while meeting the changing demands of a growing department and organization

  • Strong references

  • Available for approximately four months beginning January 2018, for 30-40 hours per week


Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA graduate or candidate preferred

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry

  • Experience in business research and analytics and/or consulting

  • Experience with industry databases (e.g. Bloomberg)

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated success working under deadlines

  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
