About the Role

 

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Senior Directory of Technology will be a key member of the CPM leadership team. CPM has experienced transformational growth over the past four years as the staff has increased by over 40% and revenue has grown at a compound annual growth rate in the double digits. The Senior Director of Technology will support our ambitious strategic goals by leading technology through an exciting new phase of growth and innovation across a wide array of audio and digital products and platforms as well as overseeing the excellence of our traditional broadcast signal.

 

CPM is seeking a technical leader who possesses a strong business and technology mindset combined with a service orientation and excellent project delivery skills. This role must ensure that technology is keeping pace with the needs across the organization, and do so cost-effectively. The successful Senior Director of Technology will bring experienced vendor and project management skills to the organization, combined with excellent people management and communication abilities. The Senior Director should know how to get things done through others, while also being prepared to dig into the details and direct staff actively when needed.  This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role in a growing dynamic organization.

 

The Senior Director must also develop and maintain a broad understanding of all business units within CPM and their relationship to technology; contribute to general business planning regarding the technology and systems required to maintain CPM’s operations and competitiveness; and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships throughout the organization.

 

Direct Reports:

  • Broadcast Operations Team – Manages on-air sound and programming, including our Master Control Engineers.
  • Broadcast Engineering Team – Manages studio and broadcast-related technologies and towers as well as digital audio technologies including live streaming and podcast hosting services.
  • IT / Help Desk Team – Manages IT infrastructure, networking and security.
  • Digital Software Engineering Team – Works with product managers to build and maintain our web, mobile and app platforms.

 

Core Technical Competencies:                                   Reliable IP infrastructure

                                                                                                Familiarity with application/platform development

 

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

 

  1. BA, BS or BSEE or equivalent professional experience.
  2. At least 10 years of progressive work experience in broadcast/digital media with strong knowledge of architectures, trends and emerging technologies.
  3. At least 5 years in a technical management role including the management of other supervisors of front line support teams and network infrastructure. Experience working within mid-sized organization preferred.
  4. Capable of leading and inspiring diverse groups of engineers to accomplish complex projects.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from start to finish. PMP certification a plus.
  6. Proven experience in managing a technology and operations function from a financial and managerial point of view.
  7. Prior experience managing key vendor relationships and leading formal vendor selection processes including competitive bidding and RFPs through contract negotiation.
  8. Ability to implement excellent customer service based processes.
  9. Experience in major enterprise level technology construction or renovation projects is desirable.
  10. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to stakeholders of varying technical knowledge.
  11. Currently in a technology and operations leadership role with experience with digital audio/video formats and technology for mobile and emerging platforms.
