Title: Custom Framing Specialist


Reports To: General Manager





The Custom Framing Specialist is responsible for managing our custom framing business, assisting customers with the custom framing process. This position provides ideas and recommendations on ways to best frame artwork and photos. The Custom Framing Specialist is responsible for driving sales and other key performance metrics within the department. The Custom Framing Specialist will ensure operational standards are in place.


The Custom Framing Specialist is a primary source of contact for our customers. The Custom Framing Specialist impacts the company by satisfying our customers who continue to shop at our stores, thus driving business. 


The Specialist has a unique talent and is dedicated to a specific function.  Specialists may work in multiple areas of the store during each shift.


Essential Job Functions


Sales/Department Sales (Average Ticket)

  • Demonstrate awareness of sales and gross margin of products within respective department and take action to improve performance.
  • Demonstrate accuracy in order taking process.
  • Utilize artistic ability and Custom Framing camera to provide relevant frame, mat, and glass recommendations.
  • Create and plan layouts and share design recommendations with the customer.
  • Follow-up with Custom Framing helpdesk for status of orders.
  • Assist in the ready-made frame department of the store with ordering, stocking, and ad signage.
  • Execute the company presentation standards in the frame shop.
  • Partner with Inventory Control Specialist to order merchandise for seasonal and ads in the department.


Store Operations Review

  • File appropriate paperwork as it relates to Custom Framing purchases.
  • Responsible for compliance with all questions on Store Operations Review related to job function.
  • Maintain compliance with the Framer on Duty Binder.


Quality Customer Care

  • Provide Quality Customer Care to all customers by handling customer concerns quickly and sincerely, ringing up purchases with speed and accuracy, and by recovering the store consistently to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Build and develop relationships with local businesses, schools, hospitals, churches and other community groups.


Rewards Card Program

  • Drive Reward Card sign-ups to meet company expectations.

Experience & Educational Requirements


  • Flexibility in scheduling; evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays required.
  • Ability to drive sales within the department.
  • Ability to pass Quality Sales and Service/Custom Framing Certification test.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • High energy level and positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Artistic ability.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Experience with arts and crafts preferred.
