The Team:
The Intelligence & Analytics team’s mission is to provide analytical reports and analysis relating to the economic, client, and competitive ecosystems in which CME Group operates. As such, the team is responsible for data science, generating insight, developing tools, expertise in data and report automation, and economic thought leadership. The team creates competitive advantage through data analysis to drive better and faster decision making by the firm’s senior leaders. The team brings diverse skill sets together, combining intellect, market expertise, statistical and technical skills, and ingenuity. The team is one of the key thought leadership groups at the Exchange and serves the broader units to identify and promote significant market and client opportunities.

Job Description:
Contribute to the team’s analytical agenda. Work across financial products, clients, and IT teams to help operationalize and execute that agenda. Perform sophisticated, large-scale data analysis. Brainstorm, design, and implement internal and external data products and applications.  Many projects will be related to exchange-traded futures and options using various predictive modeling approaches, including Bayesian inference analysis, to study price discovery, volatility, cross-product correlations, volume, and open interest.

Responsibilities:
1. Gather and process raw data at scale (including writing scripts, web scraping, calling APIs, write SQL queries, etc.).
2. Work on automating selected visualization of economic and CME product data for use in reports and presentations.

3. Applications in data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, Bayesian inference, or information retrieval to resolve business needs and creating new opportunities.
4. Present analytical information in front of large group of business users.
5. Capable of investigating, familiarizing and mastering new datasets quickly.
6. Identify opportunities to access additional data.
7. Stay current with leading edge systems, methods, and best practices for big data/data science analytics and data infrastructure.

Education & Experience:
• BS/BA in Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent experience utilizing a different degree
• Combination of technical/quantitative and business acumen are strongly preferred

Job Qualifications:
• Expertise in Python for data analysis is a must, other shell scripting languages such as R or Scala are recommended
• Expertise in SQL (Oracle, Postgres, etc.)
• Expertise in data visualizations, using methods like Matplotlib, ggplot2, or Tableau.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and other Big Data technologies
• Experience with AWS (EMR, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, Athena, etc.) or other similar cloud services
• Experience working with version control tool
• Strong communication, organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities
• Knowledge of Commodity and Financial Derivatives Markets, especially in futures and options trading, are recommended
