Job Summary:
The Manager position on the Corporate Development BLM team will focus on corporate finance, business development and strategy in support of CME Group’s future & options business lines (coverage of all six asset classes: Interest Rates, FX, Equity Index, Commodities, Energy, and Metals).

Assess commercial and strategic partnerships to expand the core business and/or to enter new markets. Provide finance expertise in the evaluation and execution of merger and acquisition and commercial opportunities. Analyze investment opportunities and new product initiatives to expand and improve the business portfolio. Collaborate and coordinate with key internal areas BLM, Strategy, Accounting, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Legal, as well as senior management and external advisors.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct business analysis, including the review and/or development of valuation models as well as cost budgeting, revenue forecasting, and variance reporting
  • Analyze investment opportunities to expand and improve the business portfolio, including the development of analysis on various structural alternatives
  • Develop materials requested for approval processes, Management Team meetings, or Board meetings in support of specific recommendations
  • Analyze and provide recommendations on various initiatives that facilitate decision making among internal stakeholders by ensuring adequate participation in cross-functional due-diligence efforts
  • Provide a comprehensive review of term sheets or other legal documentation
  • Identify criteria for measurement and review of business drivers and risks for proposed business ventures
  • Review of senior analyst, analyst, and intern work product; provide leadership and mentoring


Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. in business, finance, economics or some other relevant field desired, although substantial relevant experience may substitute if undergraduate degree is in unrelated field. MBA / equivalent degree or working toward MBA.
  • 6+ years of financial services industry experience (exchange, brokerage, trading firm, investment banking, private equity experience). Experience supporting commercial transaction including joint ventures, strategic alliances, portfolio acquisitions, and/or licensing deals.
  • Progress towards CPA, CFA, or other financial certifications is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office suite with advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Occasional travel required (10%-25%)
