The Sr. Attorney provides legal guidance to various CME Group business units and works with other attorneys in the department on analysis of new business initiatives and new regulatory requirements, gaining broad exposure to all aspects of the business.  The Sr. Attorney will play a lead role in initiatives supporting growth in liquidity in key product areas.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Draft, negotiate, review, manage, and process agreements for the procurement of goods and services, licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements and agreements for real estate related services
  • Draft, negotiate, review, manage, and process market maker and liquidity provider programs and agreements, as well as fee arrangements
  • Support day-to-day co-location issues and agreements, exchange connection and development agreements
  • Support review process for regulatory rule filing requirements and certifications
  • Support Office of the Secretary with respect to routine SEC filings and disclosures


Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience as a practicing attorney negotiating commercial agreements
  • Contract management system experience required
  • Prior in-house experience strongly preferred
  • JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Member of Illinois bar in good standing
  • Experience working cross divisionally in a mid to large size company
  • Experience working with internal and external customers
  • Excellent negotiating, drafting, analytical and written and oral communication skills
