AMBULATORY PHARMACY SYSTEMS DIRECTOR
DAYTON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL RETAIL PHARMACY

As a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) Ambulatory Pharmacy Systems Director  at Dayton Children’s Hospital Retail Pharmacy you will oversee the operations of the two Retail outpatient pharmacies, specialty pharmacy, and the home infusion pharmacy.  This is a leadership role with responsibilities for all pharmacy operations across the ambulatory spectrum. The individual will be responsible for instituting policies and executing on the business plan to ensure profitability and the attainment of annual growth targets. In this role you will work with on-site and remote leadership to drive volume and financial performance in all ambulatory pharmacy operations. 

 

Facilities:  The main pharmacy currently supports Emergency Department and Inpatient Discharges.  The Pharmacy is open to the public (Weekdays 9am-7pm and Weekends 9am-5pm) and currently provides closed door services to Emergency Dept from 7pm to 1am.

The south pharmacy currently supports Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Same Day Surgery and the physicians within the Medical Office Building Space. This unit is open to the public (Weekdays 6am-midnight and Weekends Noon -10pm. The Specialty pharmacy is currently under development and will be a key success factor for anyone interested in this position  Management of the retail pharmacies is outsourced to Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS).

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current OH pharmacist license in good standing
  • 7-10 years retail pharmacy management experience
  • Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services. Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology.
  • Leadership, administrative, human resource, and managerial skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate on interdisciplinary teams and committees.
  • Business acumen including profit/loss understanding, contract negotiations, 340-B Discount Drug Program, Accountable Care Act and GPO function required.
  • Knowledge in Home Health and Home Infusion
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmaco-kinetics and pharmaco-therapeutics. 
  • Knowledge and utilization of pharmacy automation equipment
  • Problem solving ability and analytical thinking required.
