Hours: The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday 7am-7pm; Weekends 8am-4:30pm. 
This position will work rotating shifts starting at either 7am, 8am or 10:30am Monday-Friday.  Occasional weekend if weekend Technician is on PTO.

Description:  As a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services Pharmacy Technician at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital your responsibilities include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; Sterile Compounding (to include IV’s, Chemotherapy, and Biologics), patient billing, and purchasing.

Main tasks  include: 

  • Organizing the storage and safe environment for drugs and medications
  • Restocking Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC)
  • Rotating stock, removing expired medications and performing other inventory control duties
  • Receiving and stocking supplies and confirm quantities against invoices
  • Delivering medications to the nursing units or patient rooms
  • Filling containers or bottles with the prescribed medications and prepackaging of medicines
  • Compounding medications – IV’s, creams/ointments, and oral suspensions
  • Inspection of medication storage areas around the facility
  • Purchasing medicines from wholesalers and pharmaceutical companies

Facility:  Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital is a 102-bed non-profit children's hospital that treats more than 8,000 patients each year on an inpatient, outpatient and day treatment basis set in the scenic neighborhood of Mt. Washington in Baltimore that provides long-term care for children with complex health problems. MWPH accreditations include Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and The Joint Commission. Management of the pharmacy is outsourced to CPS.

Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Pharmacy technician certification and MD registration
  • Minimum 1-2 years recent experience as a pharmacy technician required
  • Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally to off-site location in personal car, which is about an hour away from the hospital
