NJM Insurance Group is hiring a Senior Regional Personal Lines Product & Underwriting Specialist.  In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of automobile, property, and umbrella lines of business in multiple states and staying current with industry issues and developments in those states.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Draft underwriting rules, rating plans, and plan manuals to ensure regulatory compliance. 
  • Assist in the designing and implementation of the technology and business processes associated with a new product offering. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the training and development of staff in the underwriting rules and rating plans.  
  • Act as a mentor for underwriters as it relates to Personal Lines products.
  • Respond to inquiries from regulators regarding our underwriting rules and rating plans.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis to determine if we are meeting our customer’s needs by offering the right products at the right price. 
  • Develop relationships with relevant stakeholders such as Underwriting, Claims, Law & Regulation, Filing Services, Sales/Marketing, Contact Center, and Actuarial departments to support the assigned region.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3-5 years in the Property and Casualty insurance industry with 2 years of automobile product experience. 
  • Previous experience entering a new market/introducing a new product preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline (mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, insurance or other related subject preferred).
  • Attainment of the CPCU or ARM designation is a plus.
  • In depth technical knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and governance; target market trends; emerging market needs, issues and competition; and best practices as related to Personal Lines business.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize/handle multiple tasks and commitment to meeting deadlines.
