Transportation Project Manager / Engineer

DEA’s Boise, ID office is looking to add a Transportation Project Manager/ Engineer who will participate in Project Management, Project Design, and Business Development activities for our Roads and Highways group.  The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter capable of delivering multidiscipline projects, performing engineering calculations and design, using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications. The work may include freeway, highway and roadway design, street improvements, utility plans, construction documents and all supporting documentation.  Our ideal candidate would be proficient with horizontal and vertical alignment design, erosion and sediment control design, A.D.A. requirements, utility relocations, coordination with bridge engineers and other engineering and environmental disciplines, earthwork, quantity take-offs, specifications, and engineer’s estimates.  Stormwater/sanitary sewer/waterline design and traffic engineering design experience, including traffic signals and illumination, is a plus.  Responsibilities for our Transportation Project Manager/Engineer will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as a pursuit champion, project manager and task lead as appropriate for freeway, highway corridor,  interchange planning, and local agency transportation design projects
  • Ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet or exceed the industry’s standard of care.
  • Develop, track and modify project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Proficiency in design capabilities, providing design leadership and guidance to project teams and staff.
  • As Project Manager and Task Lead, review engineering documents and deliverables for compliance with contractual requirements as part of DEA’s Quality Management requirements.
  • Working with the Spokane/Coeur d”Alene Roads and Highways Group Leader, ensure office resources are available to complete existing project work as well as work committed to in proposals.
  • Adhere to firmwide tools, processes, and policies including project accounting (set up, budgeting, etc.), contracting, and quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ plus years of experience on transportation related projects, with at least 3 years as a project manager or design team lead
  • Professional Engineering License in Idaho or the ability to obtain in 6 months
  • Project experience with Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and  Idaho local agencies
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/InRoads and ability to participate in design and plan development
  • Civil 3D design experience a plus
