The National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and National Academy of Medicine work together as the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to provide independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conduct other activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions. The National Academies also encourage education and research, recognize outstanding contributions to knowledge, and increase public understanding in matters of science, engineering, and medicine.
National Academy of Sciences Executive Office (NASEO) is responsible for the Academy's membership activities and meetings, its governing council, its scientific programs, the publication of the journal of original research (PNAS) and Arts in the Academy programs.
The Office Assistant supports a wide variety of activities as part of the Academy’s Executive Office team.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide administrative support to project specialists and directors, including reception and telephone coverage, correspondence and mailings, data entry, staff meeting and conference call arrangements, office supply orders, and maintaining office records
- Support membership and program activities, including meeting registration assistance and logistical support both before and during meetings; process travel expenses for committee member volunteers and invoices for office expenses
- Support the Members’ Center provided for the use of Academies’ members and other volunteers who visit Washington, DC, including amenity orders, ensuring that the Center is presentable, and providing general assistance to members who use the Center
- Assist with special projects.
